Artist’s Statement
Born in New Jersey, Maryann Goodhue travels the world with her husband and pride of cats. She is an art educator teaching students of all ages for the last twenty years, graduating from Augusta University in Georgia with a BFA in sculpture.
All of her life she’s felt compelled to create. Known for working in limited series, she approaches her art in a formalistic manner. Maryann constructs using the best medium for her idea; oil painting, watercolor, ceramic, wood, mural, or bronze. Fascinated with color contrast and repetition in her designs she adds a bit of surprise to all of her creations.
The smallest thing around me inspires my creations but most of my art tells a story. Some stories are just fun while others a deep moral message or insight into daily life. I want to share my vision, thoughts, sarcasm and unique perspective with each viewer in a personal way.
